Book Description
Originally published in 1988, The Holistic Curriculum addresses the problem of fragmentation in education through a connected curriculum of integrative approaches to teaching and learning. John P. Miller, author of more than seventeen books on holistic education, discusses the theoretical foundations of the holistic curriculum and particularly its philosophical, psychological, and social connections. Tracing the history of holistic education from its beginnings, this revised and expanded third edition features insights into Indigenous approaches to education while also expanding upon the six curriculum connections: subject, community, thinking, earth, body-mind, and soul. This edition also includes an introduction by leading Indigenous educator Greg Cajete as well as a dialogue between the author and Four Arrows, author of Teaching Truly, about the relationship between holistic education and Indigenous education.

Book Description
This book highlights how education has responded to the new challenges arising in the 21st century. The changes go beyond the new forms of technology to emphasise the changing nature of education’s purpose as preparation for the workplace and society. There is now increasing importance placed on skills like collaboration, teamwork, critical thinking and autonomy which are often described as ‘21st century skills’. The book develops a comprehensive teaching approach that touches on theory but is also clear about what this means to classrooms in practice. The chapters encourage a dialogue between theory and practice so that each teacher can develop their own skills in tandem with their own experience.

Book Description
Many people, whether educators or not, will agree that an education that does not inspire wonder is barren. Wonder is commonly perceived as akin to curiosity, as stimulating inquiry, and as something that enhances pleasure in learning, but there are many experiences of wonder that do not have an obvious place in education. In Wonder and Education, Anders Schinkel theorises a kind of wonder with less obvious yet fundamental educational importance which he calls 'contemplative wonder'. Contemplative wonder disrupts frameworks of understanding that are taken for granted and perceived as natural and draws our attention to the world behind our constructions, sparking our interest in the world as something worth attending to for its own sake rather than for our purposes. It opens up space for the consideration of (radical) alternatives wherever it occurs, and in many cases is linked with deep experiences of value; therefore, it is not just important for education in general, but also, more specifically, for moral and political education.
